Photodynamic Therapy (PDT)

This is a newer treatment for pre-cancerous actinic keratoses spots in sun-damaged skin and for acne conditions. The treatment involves application of a topical solution called Levulan (aminolevulinic acid) and subsequent activation by a light source such as a blue light or laser. Treatment of the sun-damaged areas leads to improvement by reducing the numbers of pre-cancer cells. Another benefit is the improvement in texture, color and skin tone. We also offer PDT for treatment of resistant acne. Several treatments may lead to reduction in acne spots. Please contact us for more information.
